Startup of the Ural Federal University FutureLab launches the Winter School in the format of an inventive workshop. Students of 1-6 courses will immerse themselves in the everyday life of a high-tech startup: learn how to collect and control drones, 3D modeling, software development, work with databases and configure sensors. The program starts on January 28 and will last until February 8.

Winter School activities

In the Winter school will be 9 directions. Each of them will be supervised by an expert from the FutureLab:

  • Organization of production and assembly of small series
  • Maintenance and repair of elements of power lines with the help of the CableWalker system
  • CableWalker control system: the ground station, monitoring system, maintenance and repair
  • Electrotechnical tasks: electromagnetic compatibility, digital model
  • CableWalker Software: the Simulator, automated docking, expert system
  • Economics, business planning and global market
  • Patent management
  • Media support
  • Organization, leadership and management

Also, for the participants of the program will be organised some lectures about:

  • the theory of inventive problem solving,
  • patent search and registration of the patent application,
  • work with business management system in Bitrix24,
  • electric safety.

“Students will gain experience working in a startup on complex tasks, will be able to determine the subject of the diploma and collect high-quality practical material. We also offer to pass the production and pre-diploma practice, the results of which you can get into the main team of the project”, – said Alexandr Lemekh, CEO FutureLab.

Opportunities for Participants

The object of development at the Winter school will be a unique robotic system CableWalker for monitoring, maintenance and local repair of power lines.

As a result, participants of the Winter school will be able to:

  • gain experience in a tech startup on complex tasks,
  • take the theme of the diploma work and collect high-quality practical material,
  • develop an invention in the field of automation of electrical networks,
  • sign up for work / undergraduate practice,
  • get into the main project team.

Now the FutureLab is entering a phase of active growth. At the end of 2018, the startup received a grant of 20 million rubles from FASIE within the NTI EnergyNet roadmap. As a result, an unmanned aviation system will be created and tested. It will be able to automatically detect, fix, maintain and selectively eliminate defects on the included lines.
